God’s Working In Us

Text: Philippians 1:6    IBCGH    January 24, 2021

Preacher: Pastor Jose B. Cabajar

We may not be fully aware, but God is working in us for our own good and for His honor and glory. We count it a privilege to be a part of His continual working through our lives. It will surely make us better servants of God as we are being shaped unto Christ-likeness.

As we go through a process of sanctification, it is always right to submit unto Him completely so we may become the kind of believers He wants us to be.

God is our Potter and we are the clay. In Isaiah 64:8, it is written, But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. (KJV) What a special creation of God we are that His hands continue working in us till Jesus comes.

(I) God Works In The Believers’ Lives                                           According To His Blessed Will Philippians 1:6

Some people may question the way God works in their lives not because they don’t want Him in their lives but because of the discomfort and sufferings they are experiencing especially during corrective chastening. Hebrews 12:7-11

The Bible says in Isaiah 45:9, Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? (KJV) Believers should not complain while being fashioned by the Lord because it is a way for them to become well-seasoned believers.

-For His good pleasure Philippians 2:13

We should let the Lord shape our lives because it is for His good pleasure and also for our own benefit. In Philippians 2:13, it is written, For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (KJV) It is the Lord’s delight to see us becoming Christ-like in all manners of life.

  • Continual working until the day of Jesus Christ

         Philippians 1:6

The Bible says in Philippians 1:6, Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: (KJV) This passage gives us an assurance of God’s continual working in our lives. Without doubt, the good work He begun in us will be completed perfectly for our own good.

Spiritual insights to live by:

One important reason behind God’s working in our lives is to sanctify us wholly in preparation of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says in I Thessalonians 5:23, And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV)
