Giving Reverence To The Lord During Busy Days Text: Luke 2:15 IBCWPM December 16, 2020 Preacher: Pastor Jose B. Cabajar During the birth of the Savior, people were so busy and were not even aware of the manifestation of the Lord in the flesh. The Bible says in John 1:10, He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. (KJV) What a memorable world event and yet overlooked because of heavy secular activities. Christ’s incarnation was so wonderful and beneficial to the fallen race but its spiritual significance is yet to be realized by many people. In John 1:14, it is written, And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (KJV) The shepherds were quite busy when they heard the Good News from above, and hearing such hope-giving proclamation, their hearts became one in making a decision to see what was revealed unto them. The Bible says in Luke 2:15, And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. (KJV) Obviously, people from all walks of life and from all corners of the world are always preoccupied with secular activities, but when it comes to giving God His due honor, it is sad to say that only few people get deeply involved. (I) Giving Quality Time To The Lord Luke 2:15, 16 The Lord is worthy to be praised at all times. We must use our prime time in giving Him due honor as an acknowledgement of His sovereignty over all things. The Lord’s preeminence must not be taken lightly but seriously. In Colossians 1:18, it is written, And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. (KJV) The Lord Jesus Christ must be honored as Number One in our lives because He is the Head of the Church. -Without reservation Luke 2:15-16 Believers must have one heart in giving praises to the Lord Jesus without any reservation. The shepherd said, “Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us”. They did not say, “Who will take care of the flock?” But with one accord, they paid homage to the babe Jesus because they put God first in their lives.
Luke 2:16, 17 We must keep in mind that giving praises as acknowledgement of the Lord’s preeminence is truly an opportunity to glorify God. We count it a blessing to be drawn closer to God and to be used to proclaim the great things He has done for us. The shepherds put God first during that historic night despite of their heavy work schedules. As a great result, they were spiritually blest and became channel of good tidings to many people. In Luke 2:17-18, it is written, And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. (KJV) Spiritual insights to live by: Christmas season is a festive period and there is always the tendency for everyone to enjoy what the season could offer but overlook the real significance of the birth of Christ. Luke 2:11 As we look forward for the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, it is a wise and delightful thing on our part to be mindful of what He did for us at Calvary. Truly, the Lord is worthy to be praised and to receive glory for eternity. I Timothy 3:16 In Philippians 2:10-11, it is written, That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
