Mindfulness Of Others’ Faith Text: I Thessalonians 3:1, 2 IBCGH December 6, 2020 Preacher: Pastor Jose B. Cabajar The Christian faith is so precious because its Author is our Lord Jesus Christ, and for such reason, our faith should not be taken lightly but seriously. We must guard and contend for the faith. Our faith is worth living and dying for. The Bible says in Jude 1:3, Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (KJV) Through Paul’s Epistle to the Thessalonians, we could see his mindfulness for the brethren whom he was ministering. The Bible says in I Thessalonians 3:1-2, Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone; 2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: (KJV) As brothers and sisters in Christ, it is our joy and pleasure to know the spiritual needs of our weaker brethren so we could extend help in times of need. The Bible says in Galatians 6:1-2, it is written, Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (KJV) (I) Encourage Others Concerning Their Faith I Thessalonians 3:1, 2 As caring Christians, it is our responsibility to be mindful of the spiritual condition of our brethren so we could encourage them to keep on doing what is right and pleasing before God. -Know the status of their faith I Thessalonians 3:3-5 In I Thessalonians 3:5, it is written, For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. (KJV) This passage encourages us to pray for our fellow believers so they may be protected from the wiles of the devil and not be led to the wrong path. Knowing the good status of our brethren’s faith will surely cheer us up and comfort us during hard times. In I Thessalonians 3:6-7, But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: 7 Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: (KJV)
True believers are not only shining lights in this sin-darkened world but also spiritual lifters of other believers who are being led away from the principles of truth. (See I Thessalonians 4:13 and II Thessalonians 3:11) The Bible says I Thessalonians 3:10-11, Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith? 11 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you. (KJV) Spiritual insights to live by: As we go through our journey of faith, it should always be our strong conviction to walk in truth and to encourage other believers to stand for what is right and pleasing to God. It is our great joy to minister and see other believers walking in truth. In III John 1:4, the Apostle John wrote, I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. (KJV) Let us be mindful of our fellow believers especially if we see them in need of spiritual edification so they may not be weakened and become an easy prey of the adversary. Paul said in I Thessalonians 3:5, For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. (KJV) |
