Understanding Spiritual Birth

Every person has physical birth but not all have spiritual birth. The Bible says in John 3:9, Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? (KJV) Many people have no knowledge about spiritual birth and it is so sad because even religious men like Nicodemus was not aware of it.

A careful study of John 3:1-18 will surely give us a wider understanding on how to be born again and experience the needed spiritual birth.

(I) Spiritual Birth Through Faith in Christ John 1:12

Spiritual birth is a person’s personal experience through receiving the Lord Jesus Christ by faith as his own Lord and Savior. In John 1:12, it is written, But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (KJV) I Peter 2:2

-Faith in Christ brings forth salvation I Peter 1:8, 9 Acts 16:30, 31

The Bible says in I Peter 1:9, Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. (KJV) This passage reminds us that the result of our faith in Christ is salvation of our souls. Romans 10:9

Genuine conversion produces new life in Christ Luke 19:8

In II Corinthian 5:17, it is written, Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV) Notable changed life is a wonderful fruit of genuine spiritual birth.

Spiritual birth brings forth good works Ephesians 2:8-10

We are not saved by works but created in Christ unto good works as written in Ephesians 2:10, For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (KJV)

Genuine born-again believers are Heaven bound

The Bible says in John 3:3, Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (KJV) Outside spiritual birth, man cannot see the kingdom of God.

Reminder:

In spiritual sense, every person who experienced second birth has an assurance of eternal life, but those who are unbelieving and neglect their opportunity to have second birth will surely experience second death.

In Revelation 21:8, it is written, But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (KJV) Avoid second death. Repent from your sins, and by faith, receive Christ as your Lord and Savior and have eternal life.
